The Difference Between Plan F and Plan G Medigap
Medigap plan F and plan G are both comprehensive supplemental insurance plans for people with Medicare, but they have one key difference:
- Plan F: Covers nearly all your out-of-pocket costs for Medicare Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance), including the Part B deductible (which is $240)). However, plan F is no longer available to new Medicare beneficiaries who first became eligible on or after January 1, 2020. If you were eligible before 2020, you can keep your Plan F or buy it if you didn't enroll earlier.
- Plan G: Covers almost everything Plan F does, except for the Part B deductible. This means you'll be responsible for paying the deductible each year before the plan kicks in. However, Plan G is available to everyone regardless of when you became eligible for Medicare.
Because Plan F offers more coverage, it typically comes with a higher monthly premium than Plan G. So, the decision between the two depends on your budget and how comfortable you are with potential upfront costs If you would like to review your Medigap options with a licensed trusted agent Click Here and an agent will be in contact.
